P.E. Guerin is a client of The Magna Group, specializing in high end, handcrafted, plumbing and cabinet fixtures. Magna's art department was asked to do a vast amount of spec ads for the coming years advertising campaign. We were given dry, catalog-type product shots of all their knobs, handles and faucets. I approached this ad with P.E. Guerin's philosophy in mind; that its not just a knob, its a work of art. I took several straight-on knob photos and transformed them into paintings, mimicking some well known styles. The ad's boldness excluded it from the final campaign, which featured hushed tones and fine lettering, but its one that I like a lot.
